Yoga

Bodymind Joy has four offerings!

“We don’t use the body to get into a pose. We use the pose to get into the body” Bernie Clark

Restorative ©

Switching out of Sympathetic (Go, Go, Go!) Nervous System is becoming a critical tool to help with life stress.

A gentle practice, Restorative Yoga uses props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, & straps) to support the body fully in passive stretches.

We can hold poses longer which  encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation on a deep level.

We can find stress relief as the bodymind connects to the Parasympathetic (Rest and Digest) Nervous System.

With this state of balance and safety, the body’s healing processes are also triggered. (improved sleep, digestion, lowered anxiety, etc) which means we are less triggered in real life and so can find more energy and attention for that and those who bring us Joy.

Focused Breathing, mindful movements, themed topics, and more promotes a very soothing experience that grows faster and stronger as clients practise.

Practical tips and tools are offered for implementation in the ‘real world’!

Yin ©

Yin Yoga involves getting past the muscles and into the deep connective tissues: ligaments, joints, bones, and fascia networks.

We begin in a passive pose with a focused targeted area of the body to stretch and compress. This pose is then held for a duration of time.

With our body weight and gravity, we are stressing (here a very good thing as ‘all tissues need stress to become or stay healthy’) the targeted area; excitedly, impacting and rejuvenating the tissues to help lengthen, strengthen, mobilize and hydrate these connective tissues

Yin Yoga rebuilds and even extends the current range of movement.

Yin Yoga is considered a “joint rehabilitator” – think joint pain/arthritis !

Yin yoga can offer mental and emotional benefits, as well as improve blood/lymph flow throughout the body and the flow of ‘chi’ (life energy) in the organs.

There is a big difference in people’s work-outs that focus on Yang stresses (think of all your cardio) and Yin stresses…

What if you balanced both? What advantages could you begin to see in your current body work-outs?

Sun Salutations ©

Bodymind Joy has created this unique opportunity to build strength, flexibility and get toned and fit through this strong, active (Yang) practice.

With no Yoga experience necessary, this series of dynamic, flowing movements are connected to breath which always opens up possibilities to bridge in to many areas of the physical body, as well as the mental and emotional.

Considered a warm-up routine to many styles of yoga practise, here we train for the completion of 108 poses in one session; considered the “marathon” of a yoga practise.

These Sun Salutations are offered as a Registered class. prior to either a Solstice or an Equinox as we mark those times of the year when so many of our seasonal (biological) patterns change.

Are you ready to challenge yourself ? Even those of you who consider themselves “fit”?

Flow/Yin ©

A blend class set of fluid, physically valuable poses along with the deep, connective tissue, longer holds from Yin.

Flow/Yin yoga combines the benefits of a dynamic flow with the calming, restorative qualities of Yin poses.

A great option if you are interested in both a Yang (movement) and Yin (stillness, AND strength) practise.

Who is it for?

Bodymind Joy Yoga is for everyone*—whether you’re new to this form of physical activity or seasoned.

Our offerings are suitable for those seeking relaxation, increased flexibility, stress relief, or a stronger body-mind connection.

*To claim this, we need to acknowledge the variety of human beings that are out there and much like there are many medical therapies, we, realistically, know that not all these therapies work for everybody. Reach out to Bodymind Joy to discuss your needs.

Yoga is a practice that connects the body (through physical postures called ‘poses’), the breath (through concentrated, mindful breathing while in the pose or during specific times in the practice) and the mind (through techniques to help us engage or release the multitude of thoughts etc)

Yoga is a very old practise that, in this modern world can be  considered to produce a strong and resilient body and mind.

What is it?

When to use this?

Use Bodymind Joy yoga when you need relaxation, energy, flexibility, connection to the body or mental clarity and more.

For those who enjoy a semi-private experience where the focus is on the individual and you are part of a caring community.

Restorative Yoga is great if you are continually go, go, going AND/OR you are reading this and saying to yourself “Oh that is not enough movement for me!” Notice what you continually focus on and be curious about how you can balance your movement choices.

Consider after a long day or intense activity;

Yin Yoga is interesting when you need to release deep tension and you would like to rebuild your connective tissues.

Sun Salutations energize you no matter the time.

Flow/Yin is ideal for a balanced practice that calms and strengthens.

Yoga can help reduce stress, improve physical health and enhance mental focus.

It’s beneficial for managing anxiety, increasing flexibility for daily living and thriving, a focused fitness goal or for balancing other sport activities.

It can cultivate a deeper sense of mindfulness in both your personal and professional life.

Bodymind Joy Yoga can help you support healthier habits and emotional well-being. (think revamping lifestyle, healthy habits, weight loss, etc)
